Most people don't get a warning before they become a caregiver. One day your parent is just your parent, and the next you're the one keeping track of medications, doctor's appointments, and whether anyone else in the family is actually going to help or just say they will. Nobody hands you a manual. Nobody tells you it's allowed to be this hard.
That gap, between the caregiving everyone suddenly expects of you and the support nobody prepared you for, is exactly where TumCoeur lives.
The parts of caregiving nobody prepares you for
TumCoeur was founded by Isabel Melgarejo, who built it around a simple observation: the hardest part of caregiving isn't just the caregiving itself. It's everything that comes with it.
It's knowing how to have the conversations that need to happen. Figuring out how to share the responsibility with family instead of carrying it all yourself. Making a plan before a crisis forces you to make decisions. Finding the right information when you don't even know what questions to ask. And learning to care for yourself without feeling guilty for needing care, too.
Isabel's own path into this work came from having lived it, not just studied it. That's part of why TumCoeur doesn't talk down to caregivers or ask them to simply be stronger, more organized, or more selfless. It starts from a different place: you are not failing because this feels overwhelming. Caregiving is a lot to carry, and you deserve the tools, support, information, and space to navigate it well.
TumCoeur is about helping caregivers feel more prepared for what caregiving asks of them, from the practical planning to the difficult conversations, from caring for their loved ones to remembering that they are part of the equation, too.
From overwhelmed to clarity and structure
The center of TumCoeur's work is The Time to Care Community, a monthly membership built for three different moments in a caregiver's life: the early days of stepping into the role, the long stretch where burnout starts to set in, and the ongoing weight of a long-term or chronic caregiving situation.
Members get weekly guidance calls, practical frameworks for the conversations that tend to get avoided, and a peer community of people who genuinely understand what this stage of life feels like. The goal isn't another to-do list. It's a roadmap, built specifically for redistributing the weight of caregiving instead of carrying all of it alone.
Caregiving is hard enough on its own. The conversations, the guilt, the isolation, and the constant need to figure things out don't have to be carried alone. That's the gap TumCoeur was built to help close.
"I want every caregiver to know that feeling overwhelmed doesn't mean you're failing. Sometimes you simply need the right information, a plan, someone to walk alongside you, and permission to care for yourself, too. That's what I want TumCoeur to provide."
Where Juta fits alongside this work
We built Juta to solve a narrower, quieter piece of the same problem: the daily not-knowing. Three short texts a day to a loved one, a quiet evening recap back to the family, so the constant low-level worry has somewhere to go instead of just sitting there. TumCoeur handles the structural weight of caregiving. Juta handles the daily connection underneath it. They're not competing for the same job, they're covering two different ones.
